Hereford City Tudor Rose Bowl 2023 |

On 17th September 2023 the team above played in the Hereford City Tudor Rose Bowl, as the club did in 2022. Five clubs each entered two teams of four players, each playing one match at Wellington Bowls Club in the morning and one match at Hereford Bowls Club in the afternoon. We managed to win all four of our matches, which meant Wellington won the Tudor Rose Bowl.

On 18th September 2022 the team above played in the Hereford City Tudor Rose Bowl, as the club did in 2021. Six clubs each entered two teams of four players, each playing one match at Hereford Bowls Club in the morning and one match at St Martins Bowls Club in the afternoon. We managed to win three of our four matches, which meant Wellington finished second, which is a vast improvement on the previous year. |

Although the weather was cold, there was a very good turn out for the first club competiton of the season. The Emmerson Cup was a close fought battle between Pat Cleves and John Riches against Pat Powell, Roger Cleves and Lionel Powell, with Pat, Roger and Lionel emerging triumphant. |

The weather was very warm, as was the support from other club members. We had a barbeque afterwards, which was exceptionally well attended! |

The Men's Singles Was played between John Riches and Lionel Powell, with Lionel just coming out on top. It was a very close, tense and exciting game. |

The Mixed Pairs Was played between Pat and Roger Cleves against Pat Powell and Keith Brimley, with Pat and Keith coming out the winners. |

The Ladies Singles Was played between Pat Cleves and Sandra Jones, with Sandra succeeding. Hannah Mann (middle) was the scorer. |

The Foster Trophy is a mixed pairs trophy, made from one of Brian Foster's original woods and donated by his wife, Marion. It was played this year on 6th July. |

The David George Cup is a mixed knockout singles cup. It was played this year on 20th May. The finalists were Michael Wilde and Barrie Briffett, with Barrie becomming the winner. The cup is being presented to Barrie by our Club Secretary, Kay Lea. |

It's great to be able to resume our Club Competitions after 2 years of Covid lockdown. Our first Club Competiton of the 2022 season is the Emmerson Cup - a round robin mixed triples competition. |

On 19th September 2021 the team above played in the Hereford City Tudor Rose Bowl for the first time for many years. Six clubs each entered two teams of four players, each playing one match at Hereford Bowls Club in the morning and one match at St Martins Bowls Club in the afternoon. We only managed to win one of our four matches, losing by 1 shot and 3 shots in 2 others, which meant Wellington finished 5th. |

The Emmerson Cup | This competition is mixed triples and is played in memory of Jim Emmerson, one of the founder members of the club. |

David George Cup | This competition is a mixed challenge knockout cup, is won by a single member, and is played in memory of David George, a deaf and dumb member whose disability made no difference and who loved the game of bowls. |

Foster Trophy | This competition is mixed pairs and is played in memory of Marion and Brian Foster, two stalwart members of the club. |

Val Hancock Cup | This competition is mixed triples and is played in memory of Val Hancock a stalwart member of the club for many years. |
